In this book, Piero Montebruno tells his experience as an on-site correspondent in the City of New York in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. From unpublished photos, music quotes, and a poetry-based narrative, Montebruno builds on the trauma deposited under his skin and his personal archive of the tragedy.

Sobre el autor
Piero Montebruno nació en Santiago en 1977. Sus principales publicaciones son «Wachit@ (poesía de prueba)» con fotos de Paz Errázuriz y Álvaro Hoppe y «Canciones para una banda de rock» (Pequeño Dios Editores). Además, ha publicado «Dionysus/Ger» (Premio Alerce), «Escrito» y una traducción del manuscrito completo de la Tierra Baldía. Trabajó como enviado especial en el quincenario The Clinic, escribiendo columnas sobre revolución, incluidas la lucha mapuche y la contralucha del comando Trizano, el EZLN, y los ataques terroristas a las Torres Gemelas. Un artículo suyo, en co-autoría, sobre el aborto en los últimos días de la Unidad Popular quedó en la Selección Oficial del premio FNPI de Gabriel García Márquez. Montebruno ha aparecido en documentales literarios como la «Tumba abierta de Vicente Huidobro» y «La Colorina» sobre la vida de Stella Díaz Varín. Participó también de un programa de televisión En Debate sobre el tiempo tope para el carrete. Sus textos han sido señalados en algún grupo limitado de críticas y reseñas. El 2004 lideró el primer rave de poesía en Chile con edición en tiempo real de textos usando una entrada MIDI en un teclado. En 2018 expuso, en la Galería D21, «Chulos Chunchules Chilenos» con fotos de Paz Errázuriz. En 2020, el poema «Ruego por una mamá» dedicado a su madre muerta, fue publicado en la revista Voces en aislamiento de la Sociedad de Poesía del Colegio de Cristo en la Universidad de Cambridge. Ahora, y por D21 Editores/Pequeño Dios Editores publica «Binladenian poems» un texto escrito desde el exabrupto mental propio de su estadía en el Manhattan post atentado donde fue corresponsal de guerra hace casi veinte años. Actualmente reside en Londres, Reino Unido.
About the author
Piero Montebruno was born in Santiago in 1977. Among his publications are «Wachit@ (Evidence-based poetry)», with photos by Paz Errázuriz and Álvaro Hoppe and «Rock Band Songs» (Little God Editors). He also published «Dionysus/Ger» (which received the Chilean Writers Society’s Alerce Award), «Written» and a translation of the expurgated part of «The Waste Land». He was a special correspondent of the fortnightly cult magazine The Clinic. His articles spanned the ongoing Mapuche conflict and the related armed counter-attack of the Trizano commando to the last surviving militants of the Chilean guerrillas, the Zapatista Army of National Liberation in the Lacandon Jungle, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America, among other acts of war. Montebruno, as the first author, published an article about abortion in the last years of the so-called Popular Unity. This article was part of the official selection of Gabriel García Márquez’s Iberoamerican Foundation for New Journalism Award. Montebruno was interviewed in the films on the life of Vicente Huidobro («The Open Grave of Vicente Huidobro», a movie by Moreno del Canto) and the life of Stella Díaz Varín («The Red-headed Poet», a film by Guzzoni and Giessen and Best Film at the Trieste Festival). On January 20th, 2004, Montebruno presented the first Chilean poetry rave – as DJ poetry – where visual poems were edited in real-time from MIDI inputs. In 2018, he presented his work «Chulos Chunchules Chilenos» («Shady Chilean Chitterlings») with photos by Paz Errázuriz at D21 Gallery in Santiago. In 2020, his poem «Prayer for a mum», dedicated to her late mother, was published in Voices in Isolation, the literary magazine of Christ’s College Poetry Society in Cambridge. The current publication, «Binladenian Poems», under D21 and Little God Editors, is a text written from the mental outburst caused by the horror of the 9/11 attacks. He lives in a tiny apartment in central London behind Tate Modern.
